Electronic Medical Records Stimulus – HITECH Act
American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, ARRA
With President Barack Obama signing the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) into law on February 17th, 2009, you are probably wondering, "how does this affect me?" If you are already using PrimeChart to document at the point-of-care, the HITECH Act should provide you with incentives automatically beginning in 2011. By demonstrating a "meaningful" use of your EHR, your practice should realize the highest possible financial incentive through the stimulus! If you’re only using PrimePractice and not using PrimeChart to document patient encounters, please contact us for a demonstration.
As you can see from the table below, providers who adopt and are "meaningfully using" a certified EHR system by 2011 and 2012 will realize the highest incentive of $44,000 - $63,750. Providers who adopt in 2011 will receive the first payment of $18,000 beginning in 2011.
Additional incentives of up to $63,750 are available for pediatricians with 20-30% patient volume of patients receiving Medicaid assistance, as well as uninsured and low income providers.

Hot PrimeSuite Tip!
Viewing and Printing Previously Generated Statements
Have you ever needed to see what a previously generated patient statement looked like?
The following steps allow you to access historical statements from the Account Information:
- From A/R Management, select Account Information.
- Select a Patient.
- Click the Chevron icon on the right of the Statement link.
- Select a date to launch the Historical Statement Report.
- Select the Printer icon to reprint the statement.
Also, did you know that you can run the Patient Statement Summary Report prior to processing patient statements?
This report must be run on the same day of Statement Generation prior to Processing Statements. This report will give you a list of all patients that qualify for statements along with the patient and insurance balances and aging periods at that point in time. Many sites use this report to work their credits. The report can be used to ensure that the statements processed are also the statements generated by MRS (electronic statement vendor) or you can just to keep the report on file for future questions. Remember for the report to be the most accurate it must be run immediately prior to statement processing.
